BlueShadow — AI-Driven Maritime Security in the Era of Hybrid Warfare

Mirko is the engineering partner behind BlueShadow, a Copenhagen-based maritime security platform that fuses AIS, radar, ELINT, SIGINT, EO, SAR, IR and OSINT data to illuminate dark ships, score threats to critical infrastructure and trigger automated response. Our Tech Lead Maksym Hrebinnyk serves as BlueShadow's CTO.

BlueShadow — AI-Driven Maritime Security in the Era of Hybrid Warfare

Overview

About The Project

BlueShadow was created by marine security specialists, data engineers and environmental analysts with one mission: to secure the maritime domain in the era of hybrid warfare. The founder, Charles Maher, is a former U.S. Navy submarine commander and Chief of Staff at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center.

Mirko is BlueShadow's engineering partner. Our Tech Lead Maksym Hrebinnyk is the company's CTO, and our data, AI and platform engineers build the three AI engines at its core: Contact Correlation, Threat Assessment and Event Response. The platform serves navies, coast guards, border security, offshore wind farms, oil and gas operators, subsea cable owners, ports, shipping and insurers.

The Challenge

Dark Ships, Spoofed SignalsAnd Cables On The Seabed

Hybrid threats at sea hide in plain sight: vessels switch off AIS, spoof positions, loiter over subsea cables or launch drones from merchant decks. Each sensor sees a fragment; no operator can correlate radar, satellite imagery, signals intelligence and port data by hand across a wide area in real time.

Critical infrastructure owners, from telecom cable operators to wind farms, need warning before an incident, not a report after it, and they need it in a form an operations centre can act on at three in the morning.

Our Solution

Three AI Engines:Understand, Predict, Prevent

The Contact Correlation Engine fuses multi-sensor and multi-source data from AIS, radar, ELINT, SIGINT, electro-optical, SAR and infrared sources, port data and OSINT into a unified data lake, producing a wide-area Common Operating Picture and an Enhanced Operating Picture around critical infrastructure. It cuts through deception and illuminates dark ships.

The Threat Assessment Engine keeps a threat score on every vessel from its behaviour and history, quantifies the vulnerability of each critical asset as a risk score and raises alerts through SMS, calls, operator pop-ups and drone deployments. The Event Response Engine opens virtual event rooms, alerts stakeholders, streams in-situation data live and can deploy drones as first responders according to threat severity and jurisdiction.
