Why defence

Hybrid Threats Need Software That Sees Everything

Modern threats to Europe rarely arrive as a fleet. They arrive as a merchant ship with its transponder off over a telecom cable, a drone launched from a deck, a spoofed position near a wind farm. Detecting them is a data problem before it is a military one.

Mirko brings to defence what we have built for a decade in industry: multi-sensor data fusion, computer vision, machine learning, LLM agents with human approval, secure platforms and simulators for training. Our engineers are the team behind BlueShadow, and our Tech Lead Maksym Hrebinnyk serves as its CTO.

We work as a dual-use engineering partner for defence innovators, critical-infrastructure operators and public agencies, from the first prototype to a platform operators rely on at night.

Core project

BlueShadow: Securing The Maritime Domain In The Era Of Hybrid Warfare

BlueShadow is a Copenhagen-based maritime security platform created by marine security specialists, data engineers and environmental analysts. Its founder, Charles Maher, is a former U.S. Navy submarine commander and Chief of Staff at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center. Mirko is BlueShadow's engineering partner: our Tech Lead Maksym Hrebinnyk is the company's CTO, and our engineers build the AI engines, data platform and operator interfaces at its core.

Understand

Contact Correlation Engine

Fuses multi-sensor and multi-source data into a wide-area Common Operating Picture and an Enhanced Operating Picture around critical infrastructure. Cuts through deception and illuminates dark ships.

Predict

Threat Assessment Engine

Keeps a threat score on every vessel and a risk score on every critical asset. Alerts reach operators by SMS, calls, pop-ups and drone deployments for further investigation.

Prevent

Event Response Engine

Opens virtual event rooms, alerts stakeholders, streams in-situation data live and deploys drones according to threat severity, jurisdiction and response plans.

The brains behind the operation

BlueShadow collects data from best-in-class commercial sources, dedicated client sensors and intelligence feeds into a unified data lake. AI engines continuously analyse behaviour, history and context to assign threat and risk scores, generate tailored alerts and feed response workflows.

Tech Lead at Mirko · CTO at BlueShadow

“Maritime security is a data-fusion problem at wide-area scale with zero tolerance for silent failures. We build BlueShadow the way we build every critical platform: explainable scores, human approval on irreversible actions and an evaluation suite that runs before every release.”

Who we work with

From Navies To Infrastructure Owners

  • Navies

Maritime domain awareness, gray-zone activity, dark ships and spoofing detected early for faster command decisions.

  • Coast Guards

Law enforcement, search and rescue and infrastructure protection with AI-prioritised threats and drones as first responders.

  • Border Security

Persistent visibility across maritime borders: irregular crossings, smuggling and hybrid threats with predicted routes.

  • Critical Infrastructure

Subsea cables, wind farms, oil and gas platforms and ports with an enhanced operating picture around every asset.

  • Shipping & Insurance

Fleet situational awareness, vessel threat scoring, exposure visualisation and incident validation.

  • Defence Innovation Units

Rapid prototyping of AI, sensor and simulation capabilities with a partner that already ships to the sector.

Challenges

Problems We Solve

  • Fragmented Sensors

Each sensor sees a slice; operators cannot correlate by hand.

Our approach: Fusion engines that correlate contacts across sources and fill the blanks.

  • Deception

AIS switched off, positions spoofed, identities swapped.

Our approach: Behavioural models and multi-source cross-checks that illuminate dark ships.

  • Alert Fatigue

Too many warnings and the real one is missed.

Our approach: Threat and risk scores that rank what matters and route alerts by severity.

  • Sovereignty & Security

Data cannot leave national or allied boundaries.

Our approach: On-premises and private-cloud deployments with full audit trails.
